Holden Caulfield
One of my favorite books ever is "The Catcher in the Rye" by JD Salinger. I recently re-read it for reference because the language inside it is so witty and original. Not only that, but the book is just plain hilarious, even though it was written in the 50s it still reads as very clever and witty. Second of all, its a coming of age story, which is in a sense the kind of story I am attempting to write, even though my main character is 36. I guess what I'm trying to say is that people can come of age at any age. Right?
All Quiet
While I hash out the story for My Invincible Summer. Writing is hard work. Everything has to support the theme, otherwise it doesn't belong in your story.
The Getty Villa
For those of you that have not had a chance to visit, my family was in town a few weeks ago and we decided to go over to the original Getty Villa in Malibu. It's so classy, I swear. While I was there, I snapped these photos of all the statues and great artifacts of antiquity. It gives me the chills just looking at some of this stuff. Being able to portray the human form with such realism is definitely a skill I aspire to. I still want to take that sculpture class..
