Figure Invention Homework

We're studying movement, so the topic was "fighting". These exercises are incredibly challenging for me, this class amazes me because creating dynamic poses and compositions seems so effortless for some people. I cant wait until it becomes effortless for me..

This was created for Day 3 of the 30 Day Drawing Challenge. Today's topic was favorite food. I chose watermelon because it reminds me of summer. I wanted to do something with really clean lines. I'm starting to really hate indecisive lines on my own work.

Gesture Drawings from Class

These are 3 minute gesture drawings from my figure invention class. We were told to really focus on movement and making dynamic poses.

I need to remember not to compare my work to others so much, and just focus on making progress at my own pace. It can be maddening comparing your work to others because  you get frustrated and wonder, well why aren't I as good as X person? I think, the simple answer to that question is, well, X person probably has more drawing mileage than you, so instead of worrying about it, how about you start drawing
so you can catch up to them!

My neighbor Wylie the Coyote! Created for Day 2 of the drawing challenge.

Learning to tell a story in 5 minutes or less!

OK I am SO excited about my new Figure Invention for Animation class with Stu Livingston. Today was our first day, we did lots of 30 second sketches, and a few 5 min sketches. Here is a drawing I did , that Stu drew over: I did the character cat woman and Stu did the background.
