Cleaning up & Coloring my Wilderness Comic

I'm trying to have this shipped by the end of the year, even though technically its not due until Earth Day. I would like to get this off my desk ASAP so I can focus on Invincible Summer.

Updated IS Cover for CTN

Things are moving forward, albeit slowly, and I've been getting a lot of great feedback lately for IS! This is an updated cover for an episode that is completely written called "Right Round" where my two main characters get into a CRAZY wreck on account of *someone's* ego. Gee, I wonder who?

Mock up posted below..Yuji gets credit for the idea! Yuji was looking at the original cover and said "He should be walking away from a wreck!" YEAH!!

The original (BORING-ass) cover. A big thank you to Jules who pointed out how sucky my logo design was, in addition to telling me how pretentious my title is. LOVE YOU JULES! How lucky I am to have made a friend who isn't afraid to share her honest opinion with me. I know that will prove invaluable later when it comes time to edit the story.

What Goes Around Comes Around

Folks, get ready for some dark ass, twisted ass, truly f*cked up shit. I seriously wonder as I'm writing this comic how I got so incredibly f*cked up. So yeah, this comic is really dark and DEF NOT FOR KIDS. Target audience is 15 and up. Then again when I was 15 I was already watching f*cked up violent shit so, um yeah. I guess that answers my question from before, LOL. When all else fails, blame the TV or Marilyn Manson right?

Anyhow, here is an excerpt from the comic I'm writing. I realized I'm really inefficient at this sh*t! My workflow is ALL OVER THE PLACE! Right now I'm using paper to draw, manga studio for ink and layout, photoshop to color and composite, comic life to typeset. Its a goddamn mess and completely inefficient. All I know is, this piece took forever (partially because I've been sick for 2 weeks) but also because I don't actually know what the f*ck I'm doing when it comes to making comics. I seriously need to get on the damn youtube and watch some tutorials on the technical details of making comic books so I can streamline my workflow and finish this comic before I'm 72 and crippled with arthritis.

Some of you might be wondering, "WTF is this lurid project anyway?" Comics are truly punishing work, and there's no money in it whatsoever, so why does anyone do it? Makes no sense, right? Unless, a) you just love it (which I do, it's very rewarding to see your vision come to life) and b) you have some nugget of truth you'd like to share with the world.

In my case, I realized writing this comic has actually been strangely therapeutic for me, forcing me to confront some ugly demons from my past and try to crystallize my experiences into a story that people can be entertained by AND learn from. So learn from MY MISTAKES everyone, so you don't have to make them yourself. It sounds corny, but if I can save even just one person from the grief that I went through, or if my work can reach out and touch someone who's struggling, then the book will have served its purpose and I'll have accomplished what I set out to do.
