Siren Concept

Worked on a super cool short film this week for my friend Mark in NY. He's got great taste and killer style, so I really can't wait to see what this will look like when it's done. Below is some concept art for the villain...

 

 

Letting Go...

...Of what it looks like usually works wonders. Tonight I was a bit tired and out of it so I was just kind of focusing on a short hand and not being so tight and technical. I wanted more of a loose and gestural style. I'm also trying to focus more on composition and how to get the figures into an interesting layout on the page.

I liked Karl's lesson tonight. Its not about making pretty drawings. Its about pushing the envelope and taking risks. You don't hear that kind of talk very often in the classroom so its refreshing. I think I need to break out of my comfort zone and take some risks. I like that he's encouraging us to be individuals and express ourselves. Reminds me of NY. I'm going to start bringing some different materials to class to see how I can spice things up.
